Q.The game exits to the System Menu on startup. (Wii only) How can I get the game to load properly?
A.
You will need to set the Wii Message Board/User Generated Content flag to "enabled", or "not restricted". This appears to be an issue with the most recent Nintendo update- there is most likely nothing wrong with the game disc itself.
Steps:
1. Go to Wii Options from the main menu
2. Select Wii Settings
3. Go to Parent settings
4. After entering Parental PIN select other settings
5. Scroll through settings until you get to the menu Wii Message Board
6. Select Do Not Restrict
7. Scroll through until you get to settings complete and select it -
Q.I inserted my Wii Remote and Nunchuck into my fishing pole accessory, but its not working correctly with my game.
A.
In order for the Fishing Pole to work properly, you must ensure that you configure your settings. On the in-game Main Menu, select "Options" then "Controller Configurations", then choose "Controller Configuration B".

Q.My trophy room looks empty. I know that I caught more fish.
A.
The Trophy room shows only the Legendary Fish and biggest fish of each species you’ve caught.

Q.I cannot see my name on Leaderboards
A.
Make sure to rank yourself in that category. Push Y button to bring up your name and score.

Q.Can I play The Strike on Xbox Live?
A.
Unfortunately, not at this time; however local multiplayer boat racing and casting challenges are available that support up to 4 players, alternating turns.
Q.Can I buy the game and fishing pole controller separately?
A.
The software for Xbox 360, Wii, and PC is available for individual purchase; however, at this time, the fishing pole controller is available only bundled with the software for Xbox 360 and Wii.

Q.Can I play The Strike for Xbox 360 or Wii with the regular remote (or Wii Remote) that came with my system?
A.
Yes, the game is compatible with the standard Xbox 360 controller and the standard Wii Remote.

Q.Is additional content available for download?
A.
Unfortunately no, not at this time.
Q.Are online leaderboards available?
A.
Yes, but only for the Xbox 360 version of the game at this time. Xbox players can also earn achievements for a Perfect Cast, catching 1000 lbs of fish, finding all the exploration points, catching all the Legendary Fish, receiving 500 Reputation Points and many more.

Q.I have the PC version of the game and it’s making my computer run very slowly.
A.
First, make sure that you have shut down all the other applications on your desktop – having other programs open may slow down your system. If that doesn’t help, double check that your computer meets the minimum requirements for this game. You can locate the game’s system requirements on the backside of the game package.

Q.I found a hot spot and all of a sudden it seemed like the fish disappeared. What’s going on?
A.
Be careful - you can overfish in a hot spot through catching the majority of the fish in the area, or simply catching enough to scare the rest of the fish away. They won’t be back any time soon, so try finding another spot to fish for now.
Q.I’m struggling with the Casting Challenge – it seems like my casting is more difficult than in the normal game.
A.
The increased difficulty you’re experiencing may be because of the “wind factor” in the casting challenge. Make sure to check out the wind meter in the lower-center of the screen to see which way and how hard the wind is blowing and adjust your aim accordingly.
Q.Sometimes the other anglers in the game will challenge me to a contest, but not every time - is there something wrong with my game?
A.
No, the other anglers have a 30% chance of challenging you each time you approach one. Keep exploring around the lake and you’ll be challenged soon enough!

Q.How do I get a better boat?
A.
In The Strike, boats are not for sale, but you can upgrade to better boats throughout the game by winning tournaments. You will have your first opportunity to upgrade after the 3rd tournament.

Q.What if I lose all my lures or run out of “money” in the game- can I keep fishing, or do I have to start over?
A.
Luckily, you’ll never be stranded without a lure – each character comes equipped with a basic tackle kit that can never be lost due to a broken line or fish swimming off with your lure. However, there may be times when you run out of gift card funds. A quick way to supplement your cash is by participating in casting challenges and boat races, where you can win gift card prizes that can be used at the in-game Bass Pro Shops store.

Q.How do I unlock more lakes?
A.
When playing the game, you should see a reputation meter across the top of your screen. The number on the right hand side of the meter is the number you need to reach in order to unlock the tournament for that lake. Once you place in the top 3 in that lake’s tournament, you will be able to unlock the next lake.

Q.I bought a version of the game that came with a Fishing Pole controller, but I’m having trouble assembling it.
A.
Check out the Wii version assembly instructions or the Xbox 360 version assembly instructions.

Q.My game isn’t loading correctly (PC version only).
A.
It may be that your hard drive is full and your system doesn’t have enough free space to properly load the game data. Try deleting other files to free up the space and attempt to load your game again. You could also try shutting your console down briefly, and restarting.

Q.I’m having trouble saving a new character/profile I’ve created.
A.
There is a limit to the number of characters that the game will allow you to save at any given time. If you have reached your limit of 8, you will need to delete an old character profile in order to save your new one.

Q.I don’t know which fish types like which lures. Where can I find that info?
A.
Check out your game manual for details on what certain types of lures fish go for. You can also click here to learn more about the types of fish found in the game on this site. Finally, there are tips and facts about the fish and equipment in the game itself in the Bass Pro Shops Store - or in the Inventory section of the Pause Menu.

Q.I think I found one of the Legendary Fish – I see it, but I can’t catch it. I want that fish!
A.
The Legendary fish are very picky; make sure you’ve got the right lure based on the lures that type of fish is attracted to, and make sure you’ve got the right lure action, whether its reeling or jigging…make sure not to go too fast or too slow!

Q.What the heck is a legendary fish?
A.
Each lake contains a “Legendary Fish” of record proportions. You’ll be able to identify them by their glowing gold sparkle once you set the hook. They are hard to find, and harder to catch, but when you do the reputation points payoff is big.
Q.I caught a weird fish that had rainbow colors and a silver trail coming off of it. What’s up with that?
A.
Congratulations, you have caught a “Reward Fish”. When you catch a reward fish, you’ll be given a randomly selected prize, which may include an in-game Bass Pro Shops gift card, a lure, or reputation points.

Q.What’s the difference between Pro and Arcade Mode?
A.
Arcade Mode is intended for the player that just wants to get out on the lake and fish. The fish are more active, and are more likely to bite even if you don’t have the exact right lure on your line. Also, “hot spots” are marked by buoys so that you don’t have to spend a ton of time looking for areas where you can find fish. Pro Mode is meant for the player who wants to rely on their knowledge of real-life fishing. Players will need to use fish finders and maps to locate hot spots where the fish are found, and the fish will be much pickier about what they bite on. For an extra challenge, try using the “Above water view” – in this view, you can’t see what’s happening under water and will need to rely on feedback/tension on the reel to hook your catch! Press the “X” Button while fishing to switch between views on Xbox and press the “1” Button on the Wii Remote for Wii.

Q.My line keeps breaking while I’m trying to reel in a fish- what’s the deal?
A.
Make sure to monitor the line tension meter on the lower left hand portion of your screen. When the tension approaches the top of the meter, you are in danger of breaking your line and you must ease up on your reeling. Another reason your line may break is that the fish on your line may be too big and heavy for the type of line you have. Try visiting the Bass Pro Shop in the game and purchasing heavier line.
